21

On Wednesday (2/4), I turned 21 years old. It’s my second year in community college, and my third year in college overall. For years, I’ve waited for the day I would be 21 as it marks the true beginning of adulthood and responsibilities. As a kid, I thought of it as freedom and fun, which it is part of the time.

For a couple of months before I actually turned 21, I dreaded it. All of a sudden becoming an adult did not seem so pleasant. As I come to realize, it basically means that I have to pay for things on my own and learn how to nag myself about getting things down early. I could see why alcohol is legal at 21- you’re going to need some wine to whine.
